Macross Plus was originally released in 1994 as a 4-episode OAV series. A movie edition was later released. Macross Plus has a much more mature feel and theme compared to the other Macross serieses. It has a slightly darker and futuristic feel to it, and the most obvious difference is the absence of aliens trying to destroy (or conquer) humanity. It's a really great anime; one of my favourites of all time. The animation, music, storyline and mecha designs are really good. My only complaint is that the OAV ending is rather abrupt. Fans must also check out the movie edition, which has a much improved ending and also a more polished feel to it. If you haven't watched Macross Plus yet, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy now. You won't be disappointed. |
